Dear Friends and Voters:
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to visit my campaign website! My name
is Deidra A. Johnson and I am campaigning for a Senate position in UTPA’s Student Government Association. I was elected
by you (thank you) for the 2005-2006 school year as Senator at Large, and for the 2006-2007 year as a Senator for the
College of Business. This
year, I am running for one of the six available positions for Senator at Large and
I am really excited to campaign, win, and serve UTPA.
About Me:
I am a
Senior Marketing major, and if all goes well, I'll be graduating in December!
This past year I served UTPA not only as a Senator, but I was also appointed by UTPA’s President,
Dr. Cardenas, to the Parking and Traffic Committee, and the Academic Calendar Committee where I aided in the decision making
regarding student parking spaces and fees, designated tuition and incidental fees, and when Spring Break would be held in
2007 and 2008 (During Texas Week!). I am also a proud senior year member (all 4 years) of the Delta Zeta Sorority,
where I have served as Vice President, Risk Management Chairperson, and the Ways and Means Chairperson. I was also the Fall
2006 intern for the Student Leadership Academy where I served as the student coordinator for the UTPA Make a Difference Day
project. Another great accomplishment of mine is the "Shattered Dreams" Program, an drunk driving intervention/awareness
program which I coordinated with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and brought to UTPA March 6 & 7, 2007. This
was the first time the program was ever done at a university, and for which I am extremely proud.
The days
to vote and means to do so have not been announced but I will update my page as soon as I receive the
information.
Please vote for me during this year's election.
Thanks so much!
